Having a Restaurant Party?
We all know how great having a birthday party in a restaurant can be. It’s easy, saving you on catering and cleaning up. Plus the food is usually great! But when you are adding that extra element of entertainment (which is not supplied direct by the restaurant) then there are two things you need to consider.
Most good restaurants will have a private function room, however not all do. So when you pay for a dancer or two to come an entertain, you may end up providing entertainment for other patrons as well. Of course, our dancers will be focused on the tables that they are dancing for, but it doesn’t stop everyone else from watching – so if you can arrange a private function area you will feel like you are getting more value from your entertainment as well as privacy for your party.
Have a look at the function room and see if there is a dance space and how big it is. Is it suitable just for a small performance by one or two dancers, or is it large enough to also have your guests up on the floor as well for an interactive workshop?
Due to workplace health & safety, and the nature of Bollywood Dance, we cannot dance between tables. You also need to ensure that no food is being served so that the staff and dancers don’t clash. Bollywood dancers often perform in bare feet, so we need to also ensure the space is clean and clear of debis before we dance.
So you have found the perfect venue for your party. The next thing to consider for entertainment is the sound and audio system. Find out if the restaurant has a sound system available to use in the function room. If they don’t you may need to arrange one (or ask your entertainment to arrange one). If you are supplying one, it must be of suitable quality and loudness for the space as the music must be heard over all the people in the room. Generally this means at least a 50W or higher speaker depending on the size of the room (the larger the room, the larger the speaker needed). Do not use a small bluetooth or portable speaker as they are only suitable for background music.
Of course, if you are planning on having a DJ then they will have their own system and the dancers can play their music from their equipment – so this is one less problem to worry about!
